Projections is Tyneside Cinema’s artist programme. From regular screenings and live events, new commissions to artist development opportunities, the programme works with artists to imagine the cinema of the future. Six of these events are selected from the twice-yearly Open Call which asks for proposals from curators and artists to present new moving image programmes or create live work for the cinema space. Selected artists and curators receive a £500 fee plus a materials budget, along with programming, technical and event support from the Tyneside Cinema staff.

Alongside the open call, the latest commission, presented between Projections at Tyneside Cinema and Newcastle University’s School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape, offers an opportunity to work within the context of the urban experience to explore ideas of change within our cities and consider themes such as urban precarity; marginal spaces; changing economies and urban ecologies; human and non-human interaction; shifting city experiences; gentrification and regeneration; and experiences of public space.

The deadline for both of these opportunities is Friday 28 February 2020. More information can be found at the Projections website.
