The North Shields-based Gallery is looking for items that speak of lives lived in the area and beyond
Globe Gallery is inviting the public to help shape Mourning Tea Tyne & Lost Frequencies, a new site‑specific installation by artist brothers Christoph and Sebastian Mügge opening 18th June.
The work reconstructs the imagined home and personal archive of a fictional North Shields resident who has died, using real donated items to explore memory, loss and the traces people leave behind. The gallery is seeking objects connected to lives lived in North Shields and the wider coast — including old photographs, handwritten notes, recipes, postcards, souvenirs, ornaments, domestic items, collections, coastal memorabilia, tools, VHS tapes, radios, model ships, textiles and other everyday clutter.
Items can be loaned or donated; anything loaned will be carefully documented, stored and returned after the exhibition, and contributors are also invited to submit short written or audio memories to accompany their objects. Contributions are open until 17th June and can be made via this link.
