The Globe Gallery is set to launch its collaborative exhibition, bringing together Graham Patterson, Helen Pailing, and Helen Maurer and exploring the tension between seemingly opposing states
Between Work and Play brings together Helen Maurer, Helen Pailing and Graham Patterson, with words from Katrina Porteous and collaborative works by Maurer & Angela Moore. The exhibition looks at the space between structure and spontaneity, using light, shadow and reworked materials to explore coastlines, creatures and fragments of memory.
Across the Globe Gallery, driftwood, pins, glass and cast forms shift as you move, echoing the region’s mix of industry and leisure. Each artist approaches making with an experimental, process‑led mindset, allowing everyday materials to take on new roles and meanings.
The show encourages close looking, highlighting how simple objects can open up unexpected perspectives and hint at the value of reimagining the familiar. The exhibition opens with a preview on Saturday 17th January, 1pm–5pm (all welcome), and continues Thursday 22nd January to Saturday 14th February, 11am–5pm, Thursday to Saturday.
