The revered artist debuts two new creations

If you’ve been in Newcastle for a while or are a regular user of the Metro, then you’ll probably be familiar with the works of Alexander Millar. His art pops up from time to time around the city, capturing the eye thanks to his nostalgic but often witty portrayals of working men and life on Tyneside. He’s now created an aptly-titled body of work, A Slice Of Life, to help raise money for both the Blossom Tree Initiative, who help those suffering from anxiety, bereavement and mental health issues, and The Bubble Foundation, who work at the Great North Children’s Hospital to save the lives of babies born without immune systems.
So, if you’ve ever wanted to get your hands on one of Millar’s depictions of the flat cap-wearing, dark suited, but ultimately hard grafting members of the working class in the North East, then you’re in luck. Lollipops And 99s will be auctioned off at the Globe Gallery, while the selling exhibition runs until December.
A Slice of Life will be showing at The Globe Gallery from Thursday 27th October until 16th December.
