JANET is a collection of photographic and film works created by Circ Motif’s Hannah Thompson in collaboration with Natasha Haws, Ruth Lyon, Kracken Cinematic, and Delphinium Lilac Ross. Inspired by archive works at Amber Side Gallery and starring Emma Crowley-Bennett and Jackie Phillips, it explores the lives of working-class women in rural environments, in particular, North-East and rural County Durham.

Hannah Thompson was raised in Tow Law, County Durham and is a trans-disciplinary physical performer, integrating acrobatics, clown, dance and theatre into her thought-provoking work. She set up CIRC Motif in 2018 and their aims are to contribute to the North East’s arts sector using innovative theatre performances that combine art forms of circus, theatre, music, film and dance to inspire NE audiences and create works with the North in mind.

The event will take place at Brinkburn St. Brewery on Thursday 21st July and will premiere the works and also facilitate a short Q&A with the artists and producers. Entry is free and can be booked here. Doors at 5pm with the screening at 5:30.
