On Monday 17th April, Fran Lebowitz, on of America’s most insightful social commentators will take to the stage of Tyne Theatre & Opera House, Newcastle for ‘An Evening With’ event.

Known for her hilariously dry  social commentary on American life and called an “important humorist in the classic tradition” by The New York Times Book Review, Lebowitz’s recent Netflix documentary series Pretend It’s A City (directed by her good friend Martin Scorsese) was an unmitigated hit and gave a  lively and unapologetic commentary on what it means to live in New York.

This in conversation event sees Lebowitz sharing her invariably cutting take on anything and everything; from growing up in New Jersey and being expelled from her high school  for being a bad influence on her peers, to moving to New York City in the 70’s, and  writing a column for Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine. She will also offer insights on such  timely issues as gender, race, gay rights, and the media, as well as on her own pet  peeves—including celebrity culture, tourists, and baby strollers.

Tickets are priced £26-41 and available here.
