Reliably informed

British-Australian artist Sally Golding is deeply interested in exploring audio-visual work as a mechanism for shared experiences and exploring the role of the audience, a voyage of discovery that led her to winning the 2017 Oram Award for emerging artists in sound, music and related technologies. Meanwhile, London-based Spatial is an electronic musician and multimedia artist determined to push the boundaries of sound system culture through intricate compositions often incorporating low frequencies.

On Thursday 27th September these innovative artists are teaming up again at Tyneside Cinema, having already worked together on performances in Porto, Madrid and London, for their collaborative work Decompression. As you might imagine, it’s a work that is set to be an audio-visual feast, one which will explore the frequency of both light and sound through minimal yet forceful compositions and programmed LED lighting with bursts of smoke. These elements will combine within the space of the cinema to create a hypnotic interplay that also challenges the audience’s senses. Their work will also bring the audience into the heart of the matter, pulling them into Golding and Spatial’s realm; it’ll be impossible not to be truly immersed.
