Reliably informed

Back in the olden days bands used to perform not on a screen or in our dreams but face to face. We called it ‘live music’ and people from far and wide would congregate to listen and enjoy the show, chat with friends, have a drink and overall, a generally good time. The good news is that thanks to live music revivalists and the government’s belief that we have a deadly virus under control, these style of events are returning to the region.

One of these so-called ‘gigs’ takes place this Saturday (29th August) at The Tyne Bank Brewery Tap, Newcastle and features dark and sexy alt-indie purveyors, Motel Carnation. The trio of Alex, Conor and Austin were riding high back in the day (2019 – early 2020) with their excellent single releases, which received rave reviews and BBC 6 Music attention, as well as a series of high profile concerts, including two sold-out hometown shows. This is their first show after the pandemic and will have their fans dusting off their lockdown leathers and soaking up the sounds that soundtracked more innocent times (if you forget about a decade of Tory rule and Brexit).

The show has now sold out but I only found that out minutes after completing the article but went ahead and published it anyway to commemorate the time it took to write it, as well as to create hype for those who have purchased tickets.
