Darlington indie-rockers Blackout The Arcade drop the video to their recent single, Avalon, and we’re delighted to be given an exclusive look at it.
The track is an anthemic banger that offers listeners energy and euphoria and the accompanying video really emphasises that. It was filmed at Blackout Festival, a new festival set up by the band in their hometown, and captures the fun and excitement of a Blackout The Arcade gig. There’s even some live audio mixed in with the recorded track for a little more added wow factor.
Here, the band tell us more about the video…
“Looking to up the stakes for our third release back as ‘Blackout the Arcade’, we wanted to do something special, bigger than anything we’d done to date as a band. A tune we had was kicking about in the works, called Avalon (for those who are unaware this is the name of one of Darlington’s more notorious clubs). We’d been toying around with the idea of a headline for some time now, and (long story short) thought, what better way to deliver a headliner than to do a single-launch party in conjunction with our single release, adding two and two together it would have been a missed opportunity not to do this at Avalon Bar & Terrace. We asked the question and got the go-ahead (with much-needed support from our industry mentors Dave & Chris at the Tees Music Alliance) – everything added up, we knew the show was going to be huge, and it really was!”
Blackout Festival (as we later branded the event) was a celebration of not just the release of Avalon, but top up-and-coming talent within the region (again, things are definitely thriving in the North East). We got our videographer down, Edward Harper, to capture a music video of our performance of the song as we launched it, and this was the end result…”
