Video Exclusive: Edenthorn – Year of the Snake

North East rock outfit Edenthorn return with Year of the Snake, their first release in a few years. The track leans into themes of rebirth and self-preservation, shedding old skin and stepping clear of bad energy. Inspired by the Chinese zodiac, it marks a fresh turn for the band whilst not straying from their distinctive rock sound. Sonically, the track juxtaposes soft melody with an all‑out sonic assault, shaping an accomplished rock track built on an engaging chorus and muscular riffs and rhythms that wouldn’t feel out of place alongside bands such as Audioslave, Nine Inch Nails or Queens of the Stone Age.

“The lyric video for Year of the Snake is shot from a snake-eye view. We wanted it to feel low, observant and slightly unsettling – as though you’re being watched. We leant into a thermal, grungey visual style that feels instinctive rather than polished, reflecting the uneasy awareness of snakey people moving around you.”
