As part of their Nordic Film Festival, in association with indie film company Day for Night, the Tyneside Cinema are screening Iram Haq’s I Am Yours on Sunday 14th December.
I Am Yours tells the story of Mina, a young single mother living in Oslo with her six year old son Felix. She is a Norwegian Pakistani with a troublesome relationship with her family and is constantly looking for love. Despite having many relationships with different men, none of the relationships have any hope of lasting very long. So when Mina meets Jesper, a Swedish film director, she falls head over heals in love.
The film is semi-autobiographical and is a powerful portrayal of a woman in her late twenties suffering with the pressures of life. Eventually, the impact of her failed relationships have a devastating impact on the state of Mina’s mind, which makes for some gut-wrenching viewing. It’s an unmissable tale of love, heartbreak and suffering.
I Am Yours screens at the Tyneside Cinema on Sunday 14th December.
