We find out more about County Durham wall art company, Azutura, who have recently been working with local creatives.
Who are you?
I’m David Atkinson, a content writer who lives and works in the North East.
What is it you do?
I work for a company called Azutura based in Durham. We produce wall art by collaborating with creatives including artists, designers, illustrators and photographers. We’ve just curated a series featuring the work of people from around the North East to showcase some of the amazing talents the region is home to. Their art is used to create wall murals, stickers and sticker prints.
I also write for ANMR reviewing films, TV shows and music.
How long have you been doing it?
I’ve been writing for the last five years or so and at Azutura for about 18 months. We’ve only just started working with creatives in the last couple of months.
What inspires you?
I love seeing what people can create by what they dream up in their imagination. As someone who isn’t artistically creative, it amazes me what people can come up with and I love to see it.
I’m also really happy that we can offer a platform for artists to sell their work around the globe. It’s also a benefit that it doesn’t cost them anything.
I also love seeing my sites from the place that has become my home in the art and showing off the amazing talents from the area.
Tell us about your work.
It’s my job to locate the artists whose work could be right for our site. I then work with the artists and our production team to get everything up on the website and make sure people can find everything by writing content around it.
I’ve just started a series for our blog where I interview the artists and discuss their work and lives. This is really interesting as I get to research the creative and speak to them about all sorts of things. As you can imagine, the profession draws in some pretty fascinating people from all walks of life so it’s pretty cool to pick their brains.
What have you got coming up in the future?
We’ll be expanding our artist collaboration. We’ve recently widened our search and we’re now working with people from around the globe. We’re constantly on the lookout for new creatives and want to keep expanding who we can offer our platform to.
Where can people find out more about you?
Either by visiting our website or heading to our Instagram.
