Monday 16th January
EVENTS Restaurant Week @ various venues across Newcastle
The week long event is a must for all foodies, with two and three course meals set at £10 or £15 at various eateries around the city. Whether you want Italian, Spanish Tapas to Chinese, Brazilian, German and Indian, there’s lots of food glorious food to be sampled.

Tuesday 17th January
STAGE Company @ Chapel Of The Holy Cross, Durham
Another week long event sees an inventive imagining of the Samuel Beckett piece. Truly unique, the audience are set to take on the role of the central character by lying in a bed in a darkened chapel to hear a voice narrate the text in the darkness.

Wednesday 18th January
FILM A Monster Calls @ Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle
This film looks just incredible. Set to be touching and truly mesmerising, this dark fantasy drama features a powerhouse cast of  Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, Lewis MacDougall, and Liam Neeson, and tells the story of Conor (MacDougal), a child whose mother (Jones) is terminally ill; one night, he is visited by a giant tree-like monster (Neeson), who states that he will come back each night and tell him three stories.

Thursday 19th January
COMEDY Lee Kyle – Burning This Place To The Ground @ Surf Cafe, Tynemouth
One of the North East’s most talented stand-up comedians is about to embark on a debut stand-up tour, and he’s making sure there’s a couple of shows on home turf too. Expect some wonderfully written jokes alongside lots of daftness.

Friday 20th January
MUSIC Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs @ St Dominic’s Catholic Club, Newcastle
One of the best noisier bands Newcastle are set to offer up a debut album and their crazed doom sound is one that enthralls with a psychadelic twist and dark edge, and should be raucous good Friday night fun.

Saturday 21st January
MUSIC Martha Wainwright @ Sage Gateshead
The beguiling performer is one with an undeniable voice and powerful arsenal of songs, Wainwright’s jazz influenced sound has received plenty of acclaim and should reverberate wonderfully around the walls of Sage Gateshead.

Sunday 22nd January
MUSIC / ART & LIT The Mushroom Band featuring Grumbling Fur, Jupiter and The Sun @ Culture Lab, Newcastle
An evening of sonic sun bathing to warm you in the darkest winter months. Combining sounds of radio storms and sonic emissions from The Sun and Jupiter with the soothing drones of Grumbling Fur and The Mushroom Band. I have been working with John Bowers, Andrew Fletcher and Tom Schofield to construct a radio telescope that will pick up these planetary frequencies to be beamed into Culture Lab.

And for something a little different…
