Got a passion for fashion? Then you won’t want to miss out on one of the biggest events in the north east’s fashion calendar as NE1’s Fashion Futures comes to the BALTIC on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th May. This year’s event features a delectable mix of talks, discussions, lectures and catwalk shows from some of the industry’s biggest names and the best of rising north east talent.

Across the two days, a range of fashion designers and industry experts are coming together to show off their latest designs. Terry de Havilland will be celebrating the power of their 70s-inspired shoe designs, Emma Bell will be showcasing her latest collection of edgy but wearable designs, Lady Gaga costume-maker Dayne Henderson will be unveiling his latest work and lingerie brand Tallullah Love will be revealing their latest line of undergarments.

There will also be collections and showcases from some of the best rising fashion talents in the region as the Fashion Departments from Newcastle College and the Cleveland College of Art and Design will be displaying work from some of their best students alongside the established names.

NE1’s marketing and events manager Sandra Tang said of the event: “NE1 is delighted to be staging another NE1’s Fashion Front Row this year, the event fits well with the aims of NE1’s Fashion Futures to shine the spotlight on Newcastle and the impact the city has on the international fashion scene, most notably the role our educational institutions have in shaping the world of fashion.”

“Although many of our designers now live and work outside the region, they all hail from the area and are proud of their North East roots and are delighted to be involved in Newcastle’s biggest fashion event of the year.”

Showing off his designs for the first time at this year’s Fashion Front Row event is designer to the stars Scott Henshall, who will be closing the event with his first collection in ten years. He’ll be presenting a spectacular range of show-stopping evening dresses that’s sure to delight the front row. “It’s great to have Scott Henshall on board for our first NE1’s Fashion Futures event,” Sandra Tang commented. “We worked with him back in 2011 when we first launched NE1’s Newcastle Fashion Week when Scott designed the first commemorative T-shirt, so it is timely and fitting to have him back with us for this inaugural event.”

On Thursday, the editor of British Vogue Alexandra Schulman and top designer Henry Holland will both be hosting talks at the venue in yet another unmissable event for anyone interested in the design and the reporting of fashion.

So get ready to channel your inner Karl Lagerfelds and Anna Wintours; you might well get a flash of inspiration or spot the next big trend in fashion…
