From 1st July to 2nd August Queer Pleasure Archive takes up residence in Baltic Library, taking a fresh look at the library collection through a queer lens and making interventions that celebrate queer creativity, history and experience.
The Queer Pleasure Archive takes over Baltic Library from 1st July–2nd August, with Newcastle artist Sarah Li transforming the space through a month‑long residency exploring queer joy, connection and creativity.
The DIY archive centres pleasure as a vital part of queer life, documenting everything from resistance and grief to intimacy and celebration. Across July, Sarah Li will curate a display within the library and lead a series of community‑focused events, from the Opening Chaos Party with DGA’s drag and gender‑chaos performers, to hands‑on workshops generating material for a new zine.
Highlights include Performative Self‑Portraits (11th July) and Photo‑Embroidery (25th July), turning Baltic Library into a queer photo studio, plus a Show & Tell Journaling session (18th July) exploring reflective writing through personal objects.
