Reliably informed

Look at the Facebook pages of any number of indie bands around the country and you’ll see a recurring pattern emerging when you take a peek at the “influences” section. Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, your classics like The Beatles and Rolling Stones… there’s a small circle of bands that get mentioned a lot. Hull’s newest indie kids Fronteers follow this pattern with one big exception. The first group on their list are classic country rock’n’rollers The Everly Brothers. The singers of All I Have To Do Is Dream don’t exactly scream “street cred” but they are almost the perfect band to describe Fronteers’ harmony-heavy sound, which hook-laden indie guitar licks with ridiculously catchy vocals. Underneath the youthful exuberance there’s also the signs of very able musicians, making the trio definite ones to watch.

Joining them on the night are local indie lads Violet Deep, whose high-energy shows have made them one of the must-see bands in the region. Teesside singer-songwriter Jake Wright will also be joining the indie groups, rounding off an eclectic bill of young talent.

Fronteers play at Ku Bar, Stockton on Friday 7th August.
