Hartlepool’s James Leonard Hewitson has been a prolific producer of catchy and relevant indie-rock bangers over the past few years and he’s just dropped another in the form of Ever Since We Met

Heavily influenced by the music of Adam Green, The Modern Lovers and Pavement, this latest offering is a reluctant love song with a classic feel and contemporary lo-fi edge. The guitar glides and growls and the rhythm section switches from dandy to dramatic, which sets the scene perfectly for a more smooth and soulful delivery vocal from James.

Ever Since We Met comes with a music video that sees the charming slacker-rock artist crooning on the coast and we’re delighted to be given an exclusive look at it.

Here, James tells us more… The song is about the first line sounding good and catchy, so much so that I had to finish it. It’s also about valuing being alone more than being in any kind of relationship that isn’t working for you. It was filmed by Daniel D’Arcy on Seaton Carew beach – I like how it might create the irony of being washed up despite claiming to be better off alone. The dad dancing shows a timid and uncertain reconnection with one’s self – he’s not totally sure about his message but he’s saying it anyway.”
