Newcastle rapper Donald Jenkins drops the video to his track, Poetic Licence To Kill, taken from his latest EP, Late Bloomer.

The song’s haunting synths and sharp beats combined with Don’s head-nodding flow and Specials-esque chorus creates a mesmerising sound that pulls the listener in to the dark, evocative lyrics. We’re delighted to be given the equally dark video that accompanies it for an exclusive watch.

Here, Don tells us more about the song and the visuals…

This single is a warning that some words can kill. You’ve got to watch out for those poets with ulterior motives, sitting there writing with their pen and pad. They may look innocent but they could be secretly plotting your demise with their rhymes.

The beats are produced by the Godfather of Scottish hip-hop, Steg G and the video, by D.A,V.E, shows the life of a poetry-obsessed serial killer who kills with a quill.
