The North-East has long been known for its chilling stories of ghostly encounters… and this February is no different. The haunting theatrical experience It Walks Around The House At Night arrives at ARC, Stockton Arts Centre. Part of a sold-out UK tour by acclaimed company ThickSkin, this chilling ghost story plays for two nights only on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th February at 7pm.

Written by Manchester-based playwright Tim Foley and directed by Neil Bettles, the story follows Joe, a down and out actor in need of money and a booking, who accepts a peculiar job: to portray a ghost in an old countryside manor. What starts as an unusual, yet promising, gig soon spirals into something far more sinister when the line between performance and reality begins to blur.

Over the course of five eerie night-time walks with Joe, audiences are drawn deeper into unfolding mysteries surrounding the old manor, and a slow creeping dread will be sure to set in. Not everything is as it seems, perhaps even for the audience too…

Combining haunting soundscapes, eerie visuals, an unsettling atmosphere and hints of dark humour, this piece has everything a fan of horror could want. It has been praised for its immersive tension and inventive modern twist on the horror genre.
