Preview: Billy & Teddy’s Amazing Adventure @ Live Theatre, Newcastle

Billy & Teddy’s Amazing Adventure is a fun-filled, spirited new play that kicks off Lawnmowers Theatre Company’s 40th anniversary celebrations at Live Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne from the 13th to 14th February. Produced by The Lawnmowers, an inclusive company led by artists with learning disabilities, this heart-warming show mixes humour, time travel and storytelling that will challenge assumptions about ability and success.  

Billy and Teddy are energetic, creative classmates thriving in their performance class… but when they apply to a local performing arts college, they’re told there is no place for them there. Determined to prove otherwise, they embark on a mission to show that history is full of incredible people with learning difficulties. Though this does not come easy. And just when all seems lost, the mysterious Roofyus and his Time Machine crash into their lives, sending the duo on a hilarious journey through time.  

The audience is sure to laugh and smile as Billy and Teddy encounter famous figures from the past, learning that talent, creativity and determination know no bounds. It is a message that can truly resonate with everyone. This is a tale full of friendship, self-belief and eye-watering moments. The show not only embodies Lawnmowers’ ethos of empowerment and inclusion, but it brings their story to life. Billy & Teddy’s Amazing Adventure is an uplifting celebration of diversity and possibility, and a perfect way to celebrate four decades of bold, original theatre.
