A fusion of music and art, the Vinyl nights at Stockton’s Riverside Lounge have been rapidly gaining fans. A monthly event, run by photographer Ian Allcock and artist and designer Lauren Duncan, Vinyl aims to offer music and art lovers an interesting, unique night out.

“Vinyl is pretty much all about putting on a night of original bands and music-related artwork and photography and creating something the people of Teesside and beyond don’t usually have access to in Stockton.” Ian explains. “Music and art go so well together and it was a surprise that there wasn’t a club night dedicated to bringing the three things together in our local area.”

Their next event, taking place on Tuesday 5th December, features Leeds-based funk rockers Late Night Legacy, Teesside’s own math rockers Lost In The Crowd and songwriter Abbey Burns, plus artwork, photography and craft exhibitors. January’s event, taking place on Friday 26th, has a hip-hop vibe and features North Yorkshire’s incendiary alt. hip-hop group Ceiling Demons, plus The Rhyme Molesters and ConseptD6ix. Artwork-wise, graffiti art will be displayed on car bonnets and the artist responsible for Ceiling Demons’ album artwork will be exhibiting and painting live.

“The feedback we get consistently from Vinyl is that it has a lovely vibe. The atmosphere is very intimate, with performers, artists and photographers mixing with attendees and being willing to discuss performances, the meanings in the art and photography and so on. I think that is what makes it special.”
