So, how was your 2021?

Strangely great, we released our latest album Snakes & Ladders, toured it, saw some amazing live music and live to tell the tale.

What was your best moment?

After several years, the release of our latest project has to be a contender for our best moment and it wouldn’t have been possible without working with some excellent people including Art Demon, Andy Lawrenson, Butterfly Effect, Fake Four Inc, Filthy Broke Recordings, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Zarahruth to name a few. Not only that but we finally got to tour the UK with Ceschi in support of the album!

And your worst moment?

The passing of the late, great revolutionary artist Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. Be At Peace Rainford Hugh Perry.

Who was your favourite band/artist this year?

Always a tough one to answer but Faithful Johannes has had an extraordinary year in our opinion. Entertaining Christmas singles aside, he arguably released some of his best music so far with the catchy as hell Is Hopeful EP and the genius story driven Ken & Jean LP. Both projects released on his self-ran record label WIN BIG which has also seen some great releases from Eli Hermit, Amateur Trepanning, James Leonard Hewitson and Polyarmory this year!

Your favourite song of the year?

Ceschi – Consider It A Win

Recommended albums?

Anchorsong – Mirage, Ceschi – The Guitar Was Stolen Along With The Years Of Our Lives, Child Actor & Televangel – Respawn, Du Blonde – HOMECOMING, Dylan Cartlidge – Hope Above Adversity, Faithful Johannes – Ken & Jean, Fortitude Valley – Fortitude Valley, Haruka Nakamura – Nujabes PRAY Reflections, M.W.B. – A Place Both Wonderful And Strange, Worriedaboutsatan – Providence

Favourite venue of the year?

We launched our album at The Forum, Darlington in September, it’s a venue which we have a personal history with and is certainly a favourite of ours. We’ve also played shows at the Green Room and NE Volume Bar in Stockton-on-Tees this year which we also dig and Sentry Circle, just outside of Northallerton had an amazing outdoor stage and sound when we performed at Allcalmy in August! Outside of the region, The Cowley Club in Brighton is a real DIY gem that we’d love to return to at some point!

What was your favourite gig/show of the year?

Every night we watched Ceschi on our UK tour together, he’s a performer like no other! Last Train Home Festival has to get a shout out too, what a phenomenal day that was!

Any upcoming artists we should keep an eye out for in 2022?

Codefendants, Draags & Myles Bullen

And finally, what has next year got in store for you?

We have a few shows lined up for the Spring/Summer, keep an eye out for Butterfly Effect Festival taking place at Pearlie’s Barn in May!
