Roll up, roll up and witness mighty magician Chris Cross put on one heck of a variety show! Tyneside’s favourite illusionist is gathering together some of the region’s most illustrious performers and underground entertainers for one night of exquisite comedy, cabaret and music. Compered by BBC Newcastle’s Alfie Joey (who will also be performing in stand-up group The Mimic Men and doing a tribute to Frank Sinatra), Cross himself will be wowing the audience with cunning stunts and escapology.
Bobby Pattinson is coming out of retirement specially to tickle your funnybones, while Warren Speed presents his alternative tribute to Charlie Chaplin. The feathers will fly with The Cathouse Belles Showgirls doing the can-can, and if that doesn’t get your blood pumping then Rosy Bloomers will be injecting circus staples with a dose of sex appeal. Meanwhile, Pete Peverley is set to pay tribute to one of the North East’s favourite comedians, Bobby Thompson. With many more acts to be announced, there really is something for everyone! Just make sure to keep an eye on your wallet, because Mark Raffles, the greatest pickpocket act in the world, will lurking in the stalls…
The Greatest Show on the Tyne comes to Tyne Theatre & Opera House on Friday 2nd September.
