February’s edition of The Chuckling Monk comedy club at The Chillingham turned out to be the biggest yet. A packed room was left in absolute stitches, as the laughter flowed around the upstairs of the Heaton pub. There’s another great line-up for the show on Thursday 3rd March too, as fun filled Thursdays are yet again the best way to start the month.

Opening this month is David Callaghan, smart, rich, hilarious storytelling, underpinned by some fantastic jokes, give the really gifted comedian a rightful place as one of the freshest emerging talents in North East comedy. The headline act is no stranger to our region’s comedy audiences too, as Sunderland’s Matt Reed is known for his quick wit, brilliant gags, and charming, effervescent stage presence.

With The Mimic headlining their fair share of gigs too; yet arriving for a space in the middle of the show here, Alfie Joey and Cal Halbert’s impressions based double act is a welcome addition to the line-up. Spot-on impressions, with a unique take on familiar voices, they’re an act with an ever growing reputation. They add something different to a show already including the unique odd-ball comedy of Liam Elcoat, Catherine Scott’s sumptuously sharp stories, and the spectacular Signing Peter. All held together by semi-regular host, the utterly hilarious Lee Kyle, Heaton’s hilarious evening of entertainment continues to grow into one of the most special monthly showcases of comedy talent.

The Chuckling Monk comedy club takes place at The Chillingham, Newcastle on Thursday 3rd March.
