Reliably informed

Given the year we’ve had it’s pretty safe to say we’ll all be pleased to see the back of 2020, and I for one will be staying up past midnight just to make sure it’s over. With pubs and venues closed, entertainment beyond the telly or Zoom parties (please God no) will be a little harder to come by, but brand new comedy cohorts Felt Nowt provide a reason to stay up late with their livestreamed shows.

The not-for-profit organisation has been set up by a number of well-known North East comedians, including Gavin Webster, Hal Branson, Lee Kyle and Lauren Pattison, with the goal of taking comedy to communities which might not otherwise have access to it. Their two New Year’s Eve shows will be performed directly from one venue – so no dodgy WiFi connections from comics phoning it in from their houses – with professional sound and lighting, making it as close to a live gig as possible.

The line-up is pretty special too. Performing at 8.30pm are Carl Hutchinson, Louise Young, Lee Kyle, Sammy Dobson and Si Beckwith. At 10.30pm, expect sets from Gavin Webster, Lauren Pattison, Matt Reed, Cal Halbert and Anja Atkinson. MC for both shows will be the irrepressible Hal Branson. Two tiers of of tickets are available, VIP ‘front row’ tickets will allow you to watch on Zoom and interact (£25), or for those who just prefer to watch there’s a YouTube stream ticket for £15. For those who’d like access to both shows, discounted offers of £40/£20 are available too. Only one ticket is required per household, and tickets will also allow entry to the aftershow party – a live version of the cult call-in Comedy Results show – so it’s both a cost-effective and entertaining option to see 2020 out with a laugh.

Felt Nowt New Year’s Eve shows take place on Thursday 31st December at 8.30pm and 10.30pm.
