Reliably informed

The differences between pairs of opposites are often a focal point in the works of artists: feminine and masculine, industrial and domestic, light and dark. This is also a theme in the work of Newcastle-based sculptor Ruth Brenner, whose latest exhibition is showing at the Newcastle Arts Centre on Westgate Road from Thursday 22nd January.

Brenner’s work attempts to make sense of the world around us by considering contrasts and thinking more about the choices presented to us in our daily lives. She takes concepts and ideas that particularly resonate with her and runs wild with them in her sculptures, following her thought processes and attempting to visualise them within her works. She hopes that her works open up debates about the ways in which we think about the world around us and conceptualise objects in everyday life.

Ruth Brenner’s The Nature of Things will exhibit from Thursday 22nd January at Newcastle Arts Centre.
