A new band, well more a super-group, has emerged from notable members of Newcastle’s music scene in their finest 70’s loungewear. Motel Carnation consists of Alexander Soper (Coquin Migale), Conor McBride (Deep.Sleep, Casual Threats) and Austin Tweddle (Scalesia) and understandably expectations for their debut single release are high.

Saul is available across all platforms today and is a sleazy, dance-inducing electro-psych-indie banger. Tight pounding beats and stabbing shivs of guitar draped in Alex’s tender, reverberant vocal make you want to groove and grind the night away in your local discotheque. It’s a cracking introduction to a band brimming with talent and style (see photo).

The record explores themes of unrequited, passionate love within toxic and stereotypical relationships as Alex explains, This is a love song outlining ones passionate and intense love for another which is only returned at the lover’s convenience. I’ve both witnessed and been a part of these relationships wherein which you would do anything for your partner to find it is often unreciprocated.”
