Independent Venue Week is here and even though we can’t go down to our favourite music haunt to celebrate we can still enjoy some local talent that these institutions nurture courtesy of the internet.

Dishing out a series of pre-recorded live sessions is a Sunderland music venue that put the Independent into Independent Venue Week (that’s the Independent for those unable to decipher rubbish dad jokes). From Thursday 28th to Sunday 31st January they will be highlighting the importance of supporting the local music scene by showcasing local talent courtesy of a two track live performance, which will be filmed and edited by Motorhouse Studios and accompanied by an interview with the Independent’s own Lee Hawthorn.

Kicking off Thursday 28th January is Independent regular and singer-songwriter Patrick Gosling, promising young solo artist Lottie Willis will be taking to the stage on Friday 29th followed by BBC Introducing’s top tip for 2021, Badmind on Saturday 30th. Closing the series on Sunday 31st January is punk-rockers, Dead Wet Things.

Videos will be premiered at 7pm via the Independent Facebook Page.
