Preview: Riverside Ragas: Confluence @ The Glasshouse

Riverside Ragas returns to The Glasshouse on 24th April with Confluence, a one‑off collaboration that brings together three exceptional musicians for an evening of Indian classical music shaped by global influences. Curated by GemArts, the long‑running series has spent more than 15 years introducing Tyneside audiences to some of the most exciting South Asian artists working today, and Confluence continues that tradition with a trio whose musical worlds overlap, collide and spark in fascinating ways.

Violinist Preetha Narayanan, guitarist Giuliano Modarelli and tabla player Harkiret Singh Bahra each arrive with deep classical grounding and wide‑ranging collaborative histories, spanning jazz, folk, contemporary composition and cross‑cultural performance. Together, they create a sound that’s intimate yet expansive — lush melodic lines, intricate rhythmic interplay and improvisation that feels alive in the moment. It’s a meeting of three distinct voices, each shaped by different traditions, finding common ground through curiosity and shared musical language.

For audiences, Confluence offers a rare chance to hear Indian classical music reframed through contemporary textures without losing its emotional depth or technical precision.

Standard tickets are £22.50 and Family tickets (4 people, combination of adults and children) are £45. A limited number of Bar 10 tickets are available for this show.
