No stranger to the City Hall, Gary Numan returned to Newcastle bringing his Telekon Anniversary Tour for what promised to be a night packed with New Wave goodness. Gary’s daughter Raven kicked off the evening with a stellar performance. A great artist in her own right she provided the crowd with the right amount of energy to warm them up for the main event and even covered In This Twilight by fellow industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails.

With excitement building around the packed venue, Gary and his band hit the stage performing hit songs from Telekon. The band have made these songs sound fresher than ever. We were treated to lots of rarities and even his previously unreleased song Like A B-Film which he jokingly claimed was the reject of the album (although no matter what he says, the song sounded fantastic and modern like it could have come out yesterday).

This was my third time seeing Mr Numan and I’m always impressed by how effortlessly he owns the stage while flailing his body around perfectly synchronised with the music. I look forward to his next visit to our city.
