George Driver enjoys an energetic show from the synth-pop band

On a sweltering evening, Nuovo Testamento brought their cool Discoteca Italia sounds to the North East supported by local solo synth-popper Stock Image and Cardiff duo Plastic Estate who provided some excellent tunes to warm the crowd up.
Nuovo Testamento have been a band on my radar the last few years so it was great to catch them on their first visit to Newcastle. The three-piece quickly got the crowd dancing, performing bouncy classics like favourites Love Lines and Heartbeat, and a variety from their latest EP release Trouble including Dream On and On the Edge, which seemed to turn the venue into a club rather than a concert. This was supported by a lighting display that enhanced this experience for all of us in the room.
From the first notes of set opener Michelle Michelle to the moment they stepped off stage, front woman Chelsey Crowley was full of smiles and energy, interacting with the crowd. Overall I was very impressed by this show, and it’s clear the band knows how to translate their studio work into a live setting.
