Newcastle singer-songwriter Simon Taylor drops his new single, Angel Of Mercy, an atmospheric number with reverberated guitar, ethereal harmonies and ambient synth providing an evocative backdrop for Simon’s rich and tender vocals.

We’re delighted to be given the first look at the video that accompanies the track, which Simon tells us more about here…

“The song Angel Of Mercy is my most personal statement yet on a subject I have had a lot of experience with in life – mental health issues. The track doesn’t hold back lyrically in describing how my mental health conditions have affected me, at least certainly as they did when I wrote the song back in 2015. At that point I was seeking some kind of spiritual path in life, hence the Angel Of Mercy of the title that I ask in the song  to guide me to a better place.

The video to the single is meant to convey how disorientating life as perceived through the prism of a mental health illness can be. There are lots of out-of-focus flickering lights in the video and overall I try to convey a sense of urban alienation and isolation through the pacing and tone of the video. However, a positive conclusion is hinted at.

I made the video to Angel Of Mercy myself pretty cheaply, editing together videos that were available from an online music video provider. It’s pretty much my first proper video to accompany a release of mine but there will certainly be more to follow soon”.
