Reliably informed

Since Summer 2022, singer-songwriter and stalwart of the North-East music scene, Nev Clay has been doing a residency of sorts at the atmospheric and intimate Vaux Room at Ship Isis. The premise is simple, basically, he invites some of my favourite singer-songwriters to do a 30-45 minute set, then he gets up to do an hour himself.

The event offers the good folk of Sunderland an opportunity to hear a hand-picked selection of performers from the region in the comfy setting of the Ship Isis. So far he’s had enjoyable sets from Graham Shipcote, John Egdell, Bridie Jackson and Nick Pierce, G Winston Lang/SJI, Miserable Les and Richard Amundsen.

As it approaches its first year, this ‘Nev Clay & friends’ events keep going strong with a whole load of talent set to join him in Sunderland, including the brilliant Yakka Doon on Sat 15th April, then the inimitable Young Property Developers (from Hadston) on Sat 13th May, and finally on Sat 4th June there will be a welcome return for Graham Shipcote.

Entry is free. Keep your eyes peeled on the Ship Isis Facebook page for further details.
