Sunderland’s champion of emerging musical talent and top-notch venue, Independent, will be kicking off its new Circuit night on Friday 10th February. This new Arts Council-funded initiative is similar to that of a London-style club show and comes complete with three great bands, no fixed headliner and a great atmosphere set to discover new talent.

The inaugural show features Phil Madeley, whose musical style has been compared to a fusion of Neil Young meets Jamie T and whose songs address issues of present-day alienation, loneliness, and mistrust. He is currently out on tour to promote his Nothing Is Sacred EP and released the title track from that on 1st February to rave reviews.

Supporting is new Sunderland artist Chloe Gardner who wowed audiences with her impressive set at Sunderland’s Waves festival and North-East Poppy indie outfit Post Rome.

Ben Richardson from Independent explains “We hope that our Circuit nights can become a regular occurrence in the diary of North East gig goers, trusting us to deliver quality exciting line-ups and coming out simply for the love of new music. I’m really excited about having a platform where we can bring these new and exciting artists to Sunderland, potentially being one of the first cities they travel to play on one of their first tours is quite an exciting concept.”

Tickets are £7 ADV and available from the Independent website.
