This month, the Star & Shadow host two evenings of films featuring the exquisite corpse, a technique of beginning where the last piece left off. It seems like a fairly simple concept, but here the international participation will take the technique into thrilling, inclusive new areas. In The Spaces Between Cities on Sunday 10th, 21 filmmakers come together using different mediums from across the world, featuring filmmakers from Seoul, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Toronto and Newcastle and looking at themes such as migration and nature, with each of the segments pieced together to help form a whole, taking the form of a truly worldwide road trip.

On Sunday 24th February, The Spaces Between Countries uses the technique to bring together a total of 20 filmmakers from the USA and Mexico. In the past year it seems as though relations between the two countries are even tenser than ever, but here artists from both sides of the border work closely together to address life in their surroundings. This includes tortilla making, pelicans, earthquakes, real estate scammers and so much more. How they tie it all together will be testament to their partnership. Across the two nights, borders will be broken down by international collaboration; making those spaces that can sometimes appear so wide between nations seem a lot narrower.
