The Chuckling Monk comedy club has been building quite the reputation over the last year. Comedian and promoter Cal Halbert pulls out all the stops to get some of the finest acts on the circuit to leave the upstairs of this Heaton pub rocking on a monthly basis; with another night of chuckles in store at The Chillingham arms on Thursday 3rd December.

This is the third show at this venue, and with the first two being huge successes, this is sure to be another top quality night of comedy. Gravel-voiced David Haddingham headlines this month, bringing superbly crafted gags showcasing his unique and sometimes warped view of everyday life. Andy Clark opens the show, the former So You Think You’re Funny finalist is brilliantly silly and one of the most original acts in the North East.

There’s further support from three of the region’s best up-and-coming acts, as Mark Kennedy showcases a hilariously off-kilter persona, Jack Gardner, founder of alternative comedy night Silly Billies will be equally leftfield and daft, and Hal Branson rounds it all out, with delightfully charming and intelligent material.

Throw in one of the finest comperes in the country with the witty Lee Kyle, and you have a line-up that’s rarely going to be bettered, and a fine way to bring some cheer to what will probably be a cold December evening, and if nothing else, it’s just nice to be warm and indoors.
