Another month rolls by, and there’ll be another Friday night where a quaint little coffee shop in Heaton is packed out, people squeezed in to every available space, for a Christmas Cracker of a show, as Mr Shindig’s Laughter Store returns to True Coffeehouse in Heaton on Friday 11th December.

Having had two storming opening months, this third show has another mighty fine line-up. The effortlessly hilarlious, daft and utterly amazing Seymour Mace is the first name to jump out, and there’s another hugely experienced and immensely skilled act in Silky. Behind the next door on this advent calendar of chuckles is the original and very silly Nicola Mantalios-Lovett, while rounding out the line-up is David Callaghan, who has some wonderfully clever material. That said, this is the kind of night that completely encourages performers to take a risk, so you can probably scrap all of that, as anything could happen and probably will. Holding it all together is regular host Joby Mageean, who sets the tone perfectly with sharp jokes and a charming stage presence, he gets the audience primed for a Friday night of fun.

There’s a blossoming comedy scene of unique little gigs in the Heaton and Ouseburn area now, and comedy is always in need of nights like this, silly girls and boys being just that, encouraged by an audience of equally silly girls and boys. A warm and welcoming night of comedy, that is lots and lots of fun, there’s even mulled wine, what more could you ask for?
