Hartlepool indie rocker Michael Gallagher releases his new single Gone this month, with a single launch show taking place at Think Tank? Underground on Saturday 27th July.

A bright, indie pop-inspired track, Gone tells the story of relationships breaking down over time but steps away from the conventional. With fast-paced upbeat guitar riffs and stark realist lyrics, Gone has an emotional resonance that sets Gallagher apart from the crowd. “[The song] plays on the cliché ‘you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone’ but in the same breath says ‘well, it’s gone now, so just get on with it.’” Explains Michael. It’s this sense of realism that colours the track, ending with the realisation that we all make mistakes in relationships, but now it’s our job to move on; “well my worst days are over and my worst is still to come”.

With previous releases spanning homemade DIY EP House Music and more recent singles All Night and Pull Me Aside gaining notable mentions from BBC Tees and Gigslutz, Gallagher showcases a real grass roots talent, and Gone continues to demonstrate the songwriter at his best. With further releases looking hopeful throughout the rest of this year, he’s a talent worth keeping an eye on.
