Craft ale is big business right now but Box Social are hoping that they can get a firm hold in the market when they throw their doors open to the public for the first time this weekend. The brewery will be letting you try some limited edition beers as well as their range of cask, keg and bottled ales across a four day period.

On Thursday from noon til late, the brewery’s tasting room will be open and brewery tours will be taking place so you can find out more about what Box Social is all about, with a second chance to do the same on Friday. On Saturday you can still visit the tasting room but there will also be an open air craft beer engine anda new beer launch, accompanied by live music, street food vendors and a hog roast. On Sunday, it’s a special family day, where you can bring the kids along to enjoy some child friendly activities while you indulge in all of the above events.

Ross Holland of the brewery told us more about Box Social: “Box Social Brewing is a 6 Barrel craft brewery based in Newburn, Newcastle. We brew flavour forward beers and reinvent classic beer styles with a modern twist. Our goal for the brewery is simple. We want to connect great people over great beer.

“A Box Social is an old Victorian term, used to describe a small informal, risk free gathering of friends. We’d like to re-create this with our small batch beers and with the use of our brewery tasting room which we hope to open soon. In our small capacity tasting room, you’ll be able to come and sample our newest and trial batch beers alongside our core range. We’ll be opening the doors to our brewery for the first time ever as part of cask ale week.”
With a long weekend of events in place, there’s no excuse not to get down and try some of the brewery’s tantalising treats.

The Box Social opening weekend takes place from Thursday 24th September until Sunday 27th September.
