The new and improved street food market returns with drag, musical comedy and variety performances
The Full Moon Street Food Markets in Bishop Auckland have been a popular destination for foodies and traders. Unfortunately, it was recently confirmed that they won’t be returning for 2023. The good news, however, is that festival and events company Baccanalia and Bridge Creative, who provide opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and autism, have stepped up to put on their own event. Working with Auckland Project’s No.42, the new Street Food Market will see pop-up food vendors dishing out flavour from Bishop Auckland Market Place from 4pm on the last Friday of every month, between March and October. The first Street Food Market happening will also take place on Friday 31st March.
To add glamour and a sense of occasion, from 9pm The Cabaret Club will be hosting an entertainment night featuring drag, musical comedy and variety, followed by live jazz until late at The Auckland Project’s new events hub, Mrs M.
Kicking things off on Friday 31st March is Flick The Drag Queen, whose antics and tales of the single life will have you singing, dancing and laughing the night away. This is followed by an evening of ventriloquism and music featuring the unique talents of Emily Brown on Friday 29th April.
Other events include cabaret and burlesque performer Nana Funk on 26th May, sassy saxophonist Snow White Trash on Friday 30th June and comedian James Barr on 28th July.
