Focus: Shouting At Strangers

Who are you and where are you from?
We are Shouting At Strangers, an alternative/progressive Rock band from Newcastle Upon Tyne.

What is it you do?
We are a local rock band who try to write some heavy riffs and songs you can bang your head to.

How long have you been doing it?
We’ve been going for just over a year, started in September 2024 playing loads of Grunge Covers but deciding to move forward as an originals band after our first couple gigs. Since then we’ve played at some amazing North-East venues such as The Cluny, The Bunker and The Lubber Fiend.

What inspires you?
Many things. Hearing the cheer from a crowd after putting in our heart and soul into a performance, hearing the recorded version of our track playing through your speakers for the first time, seeing our band on a poster in a venue that you’re playing… take your pick! At the heart of it, it’s just an underlying love for our craft.

Tell us about your music.
We are about to release our Debut Single ‘Beginning of the End’ which will be available on all streaming platforms on 6th February. It’s definitely a track for people who are fans of Alice in Chains, Alter Bridge and Rage Against The Machine. The song had been written for roughly a year before we finished recording, mixing and mastering the whole track by ourselves. The whole process was agonising but we’re so happy for everyone to be able to finally hear it!

What have you got coming up in the future?
Many gigs and more recording. For Ben, lots of spreadsheets.
