Focus: PØRTERS

Who are you and where are you from?
We’re PØRTERS and we are a brand new female-fronted alt-rock band from Newcastle Upon Tyne.

What is it you do?
We are aiming to combine our contrasting musical tastes and backgrounds to create a new sound, consisting of four vocalists so that each song has something different to say.

How long have you been doing it?
PØRTERS has been in the works for 6 months and we’re excited for people to hear what we’ve been up to.

What inspires you?
Money. And also fame. But mostly money. No, but seriously – big gigs, audience interactions, playing iconic festivals around the country, and showing people what we can do.

Tell us about your music.
We all met at the Colonel Porters Emporium open mic night (hence the band name). Introductions turned into jams, and jams turned into a band. We all have previous experience in other bands (Nick Gladdish Band, Tall Shaves, Midnight Chic, Escapades, Maria & James) and we have 4 competent vocalists which we aim to utilise into harmony-heavy tunes. This, paired with synthy goodness and PHAT riffs make a completely unique sound.

What have you got coming up in the future?
We are releasing our debut single RECØVER on March 28th with an EP following soon after. We are hosting a listening party at Colonel Porter’s on March 14th where you can hear the single for the first time. We also have some festivals in the pipeline ready for summer…
