Who are you?
We are Sam and Luke, the only two members of Mally!

What is it you do?
We play fast and loud punk songs across the north east (hopefully outside of NE in the coming year) although we struggle to pin down the kind of punk we are. With Luke doing everything but mainly drumming and Sam on guitar and vocals.

How long have you been doing it for?
Mally has been around in some capacity since 2019, releasing our debut single Control way back in July of the same year. We then released our EP Apple Tree in February of 2020 which had a fair amount of success initially, however roughly a month later the 8 gigs we were booked on for, were cancelled as a result of the pandemic. We were able to record a live session with NEVERSLEEP at the new little buildings (available on YouTube) in December of 2020. And since restrictions have been lifted, we have been making up for lost time and regularly gigging in Middlesbrough and Newcastle. We recently went to First Avenue Studios in Heaton to record our new EP Vampires. Vampires. Vampires. releasing on the 28th March!

What inspires you?
We have found it’s often easier to talk about each member’s inspirations individually due to us being a two piece. Sam is heavily into most genres of Punk but especially Post Hardcore, and Luke is heavily into most kinds of Metal.

Tell us about your music.
Mally is a really cathartic band, we are quite well known for our DIY ‘never say die’ attitude and our unparalleled energy when we play live. Naturally as we are a two piece our music feels incredibly stripped back and raw however people often comment on how despite having only two members we sound as loud (if not louder) than our contemporaries.

What have you got coming up?
Well we have two singles, Crawl and Heart Attack Queen (releasing 28/02/22 and 14/03/22 respectively), and then after that we have our new EP Vampire. Vampires. Vampires. releasing on the 28/03/22. We also have numerous gigs across the north happening all the time, following our socials is the best way to find our next gig!

Where can people find out more about you?
You can find us on Instagram, Facebook. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY our music is available on all major streaming platforms.
