Who are you and where are you from?
I’m Michael Peters A.K.A. M Data, an electronic music artist from North Shields.

What is it you do?
I enjoy creating and producing electronic music… electro, techy dance music, minimal, ambient, techno of all sorts really!

How long have you been doing it?
I’ve had a keen interest in production for many years however have only really stepped up a gear or two over the past 2-3 years.

What inspires you?
All sorts of aspects of life; family, friends, social aspects… I’ve always had inspiration from the world around ever since being young, seeing what was going on. Musically, from an early age, I remember electronic music shaping my ideas of what the future will hold, it sounded so different, futuristic and inspiring at the time. Other inspiration comes from being able to genuinely take time to have a break from the day to day and reflect; quite often in the busy world we don’t have time to fully switch off. For me, music production is the ideal way to do this.

Tell us about your music.
My style reflects many, many styles of electronic music; ambient, electro, tech house, beats, however I’ve always favoured the drive and pulse of techno, whether that be melodic, Detroit, minimal, all sorts! I’m also into ambient and deeper techno; in the past I’ve released library music for TV and film. When producing, I’m inclusive and incorporate as many influences and ideas as possible into my work, that’s what I enjoy doing best! But it’s also sometimes good to make a straight-forward cracking tech-floor filler!

What have you got coming up in the future?
I’ve had a busy year, which isn’t stopping! Two single releases over the summer are to be followed up with an early September (3.9.21) 2-track release, Ricochet/Sherbet, a fast paced tech-house track, and a more laid back track to complement. Along with this there’s also a 4-track EP on Kaneda Records due out on 24th September, more news on this to follow. There’s also a launch event for the single nearer the time which will allow me to showcase the EP and my live set, something I’d started to prepare before lockdown, I can’t wait!
