Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Lily Brooke, I’m a solo artist from the North East.

What is it you do?
I create pop tunes! I’m an alternative pop musician and I write, sing, play piano and produce my own original music.

How long have you been doing it?
I’ve been writing songs from a very young age but I’ve recently reinvented my sound to create a collection of songs that I can’t wait to share. I’ve been lucky enough to perform at some amazing events so far in my musical career, playing at renowned local venues such as the O2 Academy Newcastle, The Cluny and Think Tank as well as performing at several major festivals to crowds of over 30k!

What inspires you?
I think as a writer, everything inspires you. In the past I’ve been inspired by countless topics and subjects, but I feel my upcoming songs have a new raw perspective tackling personal struggles, mental health and the music industry as a whole. I’ve tried to encapsulate this post-pandemic zeitgeist we’re living in, nodding both to the ongoing challenge of good mental health for artists in the music industry, as well as to the growing mental health crisis across the UK. My main hope is that I can connect with people on a real level with this new collection of songs.

Tell us about your music.
I’m influenced greatly by the new wave of original, alternative pop artists which you can definitely hear within my music. It’s predominantly pop, but the themes and instrumentation have a slightly dark undertone. I think my music is well suited for fans of similar artists like Sigrid, MARINA, Billie Eilish, St Vincent, Sky Ferreira and Melanie Martinez.

What have you got coming up in the future?
I’ve got so many exciting things happening this year… My first single ‘Blackjack’ comes out on the 3rd March and is available to pre-save now. Inspired by the falsity that life ends after 21, ‘Blackjack’ acts as a sort of sonic metaphor, encouraging young people to celebrate life’s milestones instead of dreading them. I’ve been lucky enough to work and collaborate with some amazing people on this single and I’m so excited for it to go out into the world!
