Who are you and where are you from?
We are Crescent, a four-piece psychedelic blues rock band! ¾ of us are from ‘‘Artlepool’’ and the others a Mackem. We’re made up of Millie Jones (vocals and keys), Caleb Hay (guitar and vocals), Jake Beddow (Bass) and Adam Willis (drums).

What is it you do?
Hang Monkeys usually but in our spare time we write tunes and play gigs across the North East. We’re all lucky to actually work in the music industry, bar Jake who’s sold his soul to Lidl. Caleb and Millie work at Press On Vinyl in the Boro and independently teach, Adam works at Birdland Studios in Sunderland. So when we get together we do “band shit” like drink in the local spoons and discuss how we’re going to buy the town when we’re rich n famous, or what’s the best way to move our 5/4 section into 6/8.

How long have you been doing it?
We’ve been making our mark on the scene for just over 2 years now. We made our start with local pub gigs and 2 x 45 minute sets. If it wasn’t for playing the scene with the other two hundred, middle aged, cover bands when we were in our teens I know we wouldn’t be as sharp and comfortable as we have became today. Eventually we got good enough and enough people had heard of us for us to move to better gigs. They still bloody pay less though!

What inspires you?
As a band it’s got to be the greats of blues rock, like Led Zeppelin but with less pedophilia. Or Jefferson Airplane for the psyched elements, but with less copious amounts of booze. As people we can agree that it’s the idea of inspiring others. All music lovers remember that artist that really made them think “fuck yeah I’m gunna go into music and be skint all my life” for the first time. We want to be that band that creates the black sheep of the family.

Tell us about your music.
Psychedelic blues prog garage rock avant-garde chill angular proto the next big thing.
Hopefully… We have had all sorts of comparisons, some great and some just weird. The same with reviews. Naturally we get Jefferson Airplane lots with being female fronted and I think that stands pretty well. Mix up some Rory Gallagher type guitar licks in there, bass licks that were wrote by a guitarist and proper ADHD drums, that’s us. One guy on X ages ago told us one of our tracks sounds like Jefferson doing a cover of The White Stripes in a bathtub at an afterparty. LOL.

What have you got coming up in the future?
We’re Still riding The Futureheads high to be thinking too far ahead. That gig showed us what we wanted for ourselves and we will be there eventually, just not with anything we have planned at the minute… However! We finally have our EP releasing on the 4th of April with Shy Bairn Records. That was a nightmare, it’s been nearly a year since we recorded it but we can definitely say it’s wickid. Dan of the Levellers had it mastered by John of the Levellers with his vintage setup and the Sunderland music royalty have all heard and approved, the Brewis twins, and the Heads’. Accompanying the releases we have loads of gigs planned, Come see us at: The Central supporting Plantoid on 20th Feb, Stockton Calling on 4th April, Alieus Festival on April 18th and the Green Room on the 16th May to name a few. After this, rinse and repeat!
