Reliably informed

Tyneside rapper Scrannabis releases his brand-new track The Times. The song reflects on how it can feel to be a struggling artist in today’s music scene i.e. second guessing creative output, working out where they fit in the scene and comparing your successes to those of your contemporaries. Despite the insecurities in the content, the sound feels confident and breezy, with catchy vocal hooks, Summery rhythms and sauntering piano bits.

Here, the artist, who is set to support Professor Green in the Summer, tells us about his dream show…

My dream show would actually be a day-long festival! Let’s call it ScrannaFest!

Akin to the likes of Tyler the creators Camp Flog Gnaw or Travis Scott’s Astroworld!

Where do you ask? Newcastle’s own Leazes Park obviously! It would be a shame to bring my favourite. Artists to anywhere other than my favourite city in the world!

I’d use this lineup to be as selfish as possible and honestly just fill it will artists for my daily Spotify playlists. Id 100% have Tyler the Creator headline and give him creative control of the stage design for his set for sure! Don’t get me wrong I love my UK artists, but id use the unlimited budgets to bring over the likes of J Cole, ASAP Rocky, Brent Faiyaz, Post Malone, Dominic Fike and just allow them creative freedom for lighting and stage. During the day I would focus on more UK and underground artists and have the likes of Loyle Carner, Little Simz and Knucks play along with more indie artists like Rex Orange County and Humble the Great and Kamal. Playing us through until the sun sets.

ScrannaFest Would be a nothing more than a celebration of music! Not a money grab of £10 pints and hotdogs like today’s shows are, but something simply to make sure the fans have the opportunity to connect with the artists they love!
