So… how was your 2024? 
Fast and sometimes bewildering.

What was your best moment? 
I loved the Paris Olympics, particularly the musical section of the Closing Ceremony.

And your worst moment? 
Personally, the loss of a beloved family member.

On a wider level, the obvious one – the re-election of you-know-who in America.

Who was your favourite band/artist this year? 
Snowgoose.

Your favourite song of the year? 
jamcod by The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Recommended album? 
Descendant by Snowgoose; The Proto Push by Bugman; So Little Happened For So Long by Nev Clay. 

Favourite TV show of the year? 
Bodkin

Love Lay Down Beside Me And We Wept by Helen Murray Taylor.

Favourite new word that you learned? 
Not a “favourite” new word as such, but ‘accelerationist’ was a key concept this year.

The Coming Storm (Gabriel Gatehouse, BBC Sounds)

Favourite venue that you visited? 
The Engine Room, North Shields.

What was your favourite gig/show of the year? 
Snowgoose at The Central Bar, Gateshead.

Butteries. 

And your best discovery this year?
The Tenementals.

Any up-and-coming artists/acts to keep an eye out for in 2025? 
Breadcrumbs are picking up steam and will hopefully reach a wider audience.

Any predictions for next year? 
The world will continue to get weirder. 

Is there anything you hope to tick off your bucket list in 2025? 
I’d love to see French band Phoenix live. Fingers crossed.
