So… how was your 2024?
Confusing, exciting, disappointing, beautiful and sad in equal parts.
What was your best moment?
Having my poetry published.
And your worst moment?
Long slow separation from high hopes.
Who was your favourite band/artist this year?
Has to be Fontaines D.C. Romance is so, so good. But The Murder Capital for sure, and Sawyer Hill was a nice discovery.
Your favourite song of the year?
Starburster
Recommended album?
Romance.
Favourite TV show of the year?
The first few episodes of House of the Dragon before it tailed off. I honestly don’t think I watched a new TV show. But I hear Penguin is good, I’ll get round to that.
Your favourite film?
Finally got round to the Elvis biopic which I loved. Dune 2 was good, and rewatched Don’t Look Up and It’s Such A Beautiful Day which always hit me.
Best book you read?
I could be your neighbour, isn’t that terrifying? Also reread 100 Years of Solitude. And for poetry, Jinx my Abigail Parry.
Favourite new word that you learned?
An Maidrin Rua
Best podcast?
Oh that’s hard. Glue Factory, the Worst of all possible worlds, and Lions Led by Donkeys. All amazing, can’t pick one.
Favourite venue that you visited?
Cobalt or the Grove.
What was your favourite gig/show of the year?
Fontaines.
Tell us about 2024’s guilty pleasure.
I like a very, very, very small minority of Taylor Swift quite a lot actually.
And your best discovery this year?
Just how good Elvis really was. If I Can Dream is an all-time great tune. 68 comeback special style.
Any up-and-coming artists/acts to keep an eye out for in 2025?
Chloe Slater!
Any predictions for next year?
I mean… It’s all goosed isn’t it.
Is there anything you hope to tick off your bucket list in 2025?
Sobriety!
