Single Exclusive: Offscreen Dog – The Man In The Washing Machine

North-East band Offscreen Dog are set to drop their brand new track, The Man In The Washing Machine, on Monday 11th May. The song is about washing machines and accessing other worlds. 

Sonically, jazzy ride cymbals, wandering basslines, angular guitar and sharp, melodious vocals lock together to create something mesmeric — until the halfway point, when the tempo lifts, the vocals swell and those Jerry Lee Lewis‑esque keys crash in, carrying the track through to its finish with real flair. It’s an intriguing, thoroughly enjoyable listen, and we’re delighted to have the exclusive first spin.

Here, the band tell us more… “We were playing that drum part, then that bass part, then remembered that one of us used to have a man inside their washing machine, and it went from there. There’s some Young Marble Giants in it, some ‘Germ Free Adolescents’. It’s probably the nicest song we have, it’s a celebration.”
